The Northeast Neighborhood Association (NENA) is located in Harrisonburg, Virginia, and includes the historic community of Newtown.

 

This thriving community was first established following the Civil War (1861-1865), for and by the African Americans of the greater area. Today NENA continues its advocacy work in this historic, proud, and diverse community. NENA partners with fellow community organizations and city offices to support local residents and the residents of our greater city, in advocacy and in educational, cultural, social, and development initiatives.

NENA's central initiative is now the purchase of the Historic Dallard-Newman House at 192 Kelley Street, to serve as a future museum, library and community cultural space.
